The land of the baobab tree baked under a scorching sun. For the ancient African miners, Musina meant copper. In fact, even today, the district is the country's largest producer. Although European-style mining began in 1905, the municipality was not established until 1968. The border of Beit Bridge is about fifteen kilometers away, and people live here at the rhythm of the "zim", with always the fear of a flood. The Musina station is the main attraction. In 1915, Frank Bretag, a railway employee, planted a baobab tree near the track: the tree is still there to watch the rapids go by.
