Founded in the 10th century, Muros is the perfect example of a maritime town. The names of its narrow streets perfectly evoke the history of a port that lived on fishing, especially sardines, and which reached its peak in the 19th century, when it had nearly 30 companies, especially dedicated to salting. To recapture the spirit of the town, you can visit its emblematic fish market and stroll around the Plaza de la Peixeria, where the town's activities are concentrated. At the entrance to the town, a 19th century mill is worth a visit, one of the largest in the country To the north of Muros inland, about 17 kilometres along the AC-550, Carnota is a small hamlet from another age, made up of old granite farmhouses squeezed around the parish. It has a magnificent horreo, 35 metres long and considered, not without pride, to be the longest in Galicia. The AC-550 road runs along the Monte e Lagoa de Louro nature reserve, dominated by Mount Louro (241 m). Made up of dunes, this fragile ecosystem is rich in both flora and fauna. It is also the den of herons who come to feast on reptiles and amphibians, which are very numerous here. From the south to the north, you can access a series of long wild beaches, bordered by pine forests. The one in Louro is recommended for a family swim, on the sheltered beach of San Francisco. The beaches of Ancoradoira and Lariño are more suitable for ocean swimming
