Surrounded by mountains, this pretty city is the small pearl of the Murcian Community. One is won over by its charm as soon as one sets foot there. Emblematic of the city, its castle perched on a large promontory was unfortunately damaged during an earthquake in 2011 causing several deaths and much material damage but it can still be visited and has become the venue for many events. Lorca is famous for its splendid Holy Week procession, where two brotherhoods, the Whites and the Blues, compete, dressed in sumptuous embroidery. Since a very high quality craft industry is also the mark of the city.
