Its old quarter is quite picturesque, with the Plaza de España, whose origin dates back to the sixteenth century, as a place for strolling and meeting. There are examples of popular architecture from the 19th century and at one end of the square, the "millennium olive tree", planted by the Arabs in the 10th century, a unique specimen that is celebrated every year in late January. But the city is above all a good place to visit the Tablas de Daimiel National Park. A natural area protected since 1973, whose many islands and lagoons are crossed every year by migratory birds.
