Travel Guide Xerokampos

At 20 km from Ziros, the road passes halfway through Hametoulo. A special mention for this superb small traditional village truly clinging to the mountain. Beyond that, the road winds down in bends, offering splendid views of the sea as far as Xerokampos. It can also be reached from Zakros and the northeast coast. In the last few kilometres, the road passes along deep gorges before it leads to a vast plain, which lies against the mountains and is mainly cultivated with olive trees. It is the ideal place for those seeking peace and quiet. Xerokampos has a superb pearly sand beach and others, further south, in small coves inserted between the rocks. Xerokampos also has a small Minoan site not yet excavated (Ambelos) near the chapel south of the beach, and a cave in the middle of the mountain to stretch your legs. There are also a few grocery stores to stock up.
