Not really unavoidable, the city of Metameur marks the entrance to the land of ksour. The city, founded around the fourteenth century, has a few ghorfas on its heights, mostly intended for housing, the same model as those of Medenine. They are grouped around a square where, during a conflict, the livestock was gathered. The whole is rather in bad condition but nevertheless charming. From there, the RN20-C104 leads to Toujane. The hill road to Matmata is recommended for experienced drivers with a good vehicle or an all-terrain vehicle.
