Situated at the top of Monte Lerno, Pattada is the highest village in the province of Sassari. Its narrow streets culminate at 900 meters above sea level. The houses built in tight rows give an austere air to this big village. You have to look up for neo-classical bourgeois houses or Art Nouveau style buildings. Pattada is known throughout Italy for its production of shepherd's knives, a craft practiced since time immemorial thanks to the iron deposit discovered in antiquity. The village still has some traditional cutlers as well as Culter, a museum dedicated to the art of the knife.
