A little further down the coast, Toroni is a pleasant village also with a large sandy beach. At the end of this beach is Cape Lekythos, dotted with the ruins of a fortress reminding us that during the Peloponnesian War (around 423 BC), the Athenians found refuge here and were able to resist for some time thanks to the strategic position of this fortified promontory. The Spartan general Brasidias, who finally succeeded in storming the fortress, razed it to the ground before building a temple to Athena on its site, in gratitude for the precious help she had undoubtedly given him
