This region really has some sites of importance, notably the monastery of Ossios Loukas, classified as a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1990. 36 km from Delphi and 168 km from Athens, Ossios Loukas (St. Luke) has in fact no connection with the evangelist of the same name. It was founded by the "Venerable Luke" (Ossios Loukas), a Greek hermit and saint of the 10th century. Established on the edge of the majestic Helicon massif, this monastery offers magnificent views over a valley planted with cypress and olive trees, shaped by the monks since the Middle Ages. This site is today without doubt one of the most beautiful of all Greece. We see mosaics of a rare beauty and especially very well preserved.
