It was in Nemea that, according to Greek mythology, Heracles defeated the lion as part of his 12 labours. And it's a great trip from Nafplio or Corinth. Nemea is a very well preserved and developed site, where there are still not many people. You will see three columns, remains of a temple, but it is especially the stadium and its history that are interesting. Every two years, the Nemean Games were celebrated there, as well as the Olympic and Delphic Games. An association revived them in 1996 and intends to perpetuate them every 4 years. The only condition to participate is to run barefoot and in tunic!
