15 km from Wete, the small village of Konde is the northernmost large village of the island. It is mostly known for its surroundings, it is the last village before the Ngezi forest. Starting with exceptional wild beaches: Panga ya Watoro Beach and Vumawimbi Beach at the north-western tip, on either side of the Kigomasha peninsula, or Mbuyuni Beach, at the north-eastern tip of the island. There is a real authenticity (and also a convenient gas station). 6 km east of Konde are the ruins of Chwaka. The site can be reached after a 900m track near Tumbe, where a fish market is held.
