Another small beachside village populated by fishermen living in traditional huts planted among coconut palms. Here again, it's bordered by sumptuous all-inclusive resorts, isolated from each other, but which have been multiplying on this magnificent beach in recent years. The Island, opened in 2018, is an ecolodge built on a rock on the sea, accessible on foot at low tide and by boat at high tide. It opens its excellent restaurant to non-guests and is reminiscent of The Rocks, located in Pingwe (one letter short of the same village name). Other luxury resorts have opened recently, but Pongwe seems to be the new place to be!
