Second to last town before the border with Greece, less than 25 km from the city of Edirne in Turkey, Svilengrad (18,000 inhabitants) is not the most touristic destination of the country, but it occupies this particular geographical situation where Turks, Greeks and Bulgarians live side by side, before the sinister Kapitan Andreevo (the most frequented Bulgarian-Turkish border post in Europe). The Mustafa Pasha Bridge (or Old Bridge) was built in the 16th century by the Ottomans over the Maritsa River.
