Symbol of both Bulgarian and Turkish cultural traditions, Haskovo is not a tourist place, but has a real ethnocultural interest. In addition, it boasts the highest monument of the Virgin Mary in the world (33 m high) which dominates the city like Christ in Rio de Janeiro. It must be said that the region of Haskovo has always devoted a strong cult to the Virgin Mary; September 8, the day of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, is declared Haskovo Day. Near this monument, one of the tallest bell towers in the Balkans was erected, reaching 30 meters in height, with eight bells weighing one ton in total. Finally, the city has built the highest pylon with the national flag in the country, which is 32 m high.
