Built on the slopes of the river, this industrial city has lived at the rhythm of the Danube: it is home to the second ferry, after that of Vidin, which connects it to the Romanian city of Bechet. The old town is interesting. From the park Loven Dom (Hunter's house), in the highest part, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the river. The church of St. George, dating from 1837, contains religious objects from the 17th century and rare liturgical books brought from Russia. The Bulgarian-Romanian Friendship Park, in the eastern part, houses the famous Statue of Liberty erected in memory of the Romanian soldiers who died for the liberation of Bulgaria.
