About 50 km from Veliko Tarnovo, Elena has the advantage of concentrating in a small area most of its attractions. Indeed, the "museum complex" of the national revival gathers in the same place a house-museum, a former school reconverted into a museum and a church. It was here that revolutionary movements were born, despite the relative autonomy enjoyed by the town's inhabitants at the time. One more small town of the national renaissance that deserves to be visited. Elena is known for its local mountain products: elenski bout and elensko fillets of dried meats; homemade sirene and mountain honey.
