Closing the eastern part of the country, Taitung, gets stolen by the Chihpen springs site (知本) or by the Orchid Island. However, its cultural heritage mixed with the wealth of the surrounding area can lead the visitor to stay there for a few days. Taitung is a quiet and sparsely populated city, which seems to be the antithesis of Taiwan and civilization. For a long time cut off from the rest of the island, it is now connected by train and a few buses. Only visitors who stay several weeks on the island take the time to travel to Taitung, the others refusing to "waste time" to reach this lost city. This is a mistake, if only for the archaeological site of Peinan, classified as a national heritage site
