Only a few dozen metres from the shore of popular China, Mazu, like Kinmen, has been a Taiwanese military base since 1949. Much less coveted, Mazu consists of 18 islands, the two most famous of which are Beigan and Nangan. The few visitors combined with the beauty of the beaches make Mazu a new and relaxing destination, offering attractions of great interest. It is, after Kinmen, a rather unknown place that deserves a detour.
