Los Antiguos is located in a fertile valley on the shores of Lago Buenos Aires, the second largest lake in South America (after Lake Titicaca). In the past, the place was chosen by the Tehuelches to come and die in peace: they called the site I Keu Kenk (Place of the Ancestors). Today, the town is known for its cherry festival and its many chacras where delicious fruits are grown. Los Antiguos is for many travel agencies, the starting point of the Ruta 40 (even if the city is not strictly speaking located on this mythical road). It is also an easy way to cross the border to Chile: the town of Chile Chico is only 7 km away!
