Shortly after the junction to Puerto Ibáñez, you will find this village, which enjoys a superb view of the majestic Cerro Castillo massif. Its fortress-like appearance, which gives it its name, gives it a defensive air: in fact, it is difficult to reach and you will need to be equipped to consider its ascent. Founded in 1966, it is becoming increasingly popular with travellers. At 350 meters above sea level, the village is at the highest altitude of all the towns on the Carretera Austral. In the national park of the same name, the most courageous hikers will set off to tackle the Las Horquetas circuit.
