22 km northeast of Dambulla and 90 km northeast of Kandy. Sigiriya, a small and peaceful village, is located at the foot of the sumptuous fortress of the same name, classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1982. The area around the village is simply magnificent. Between rice fields as far as the eye can see, green plains, savannah and jungle, you can see wild elephants and many monkeys. A few kilometers away from the fortress, don't miss the climb to Mount Pidurangala, with its small temples and especially its fantastic view on the Lion Rock and the surrounding area, especially at sunset.
