170 km north of Colombo, 30 km from Puttalam and about 40 km from Anuradhapura. The Wilpattu National Park covers an area of 1,320 km2, with about thirty freshwater lakes, where grey herons and cormorants fish. We also find other animals such as deer, wild pigs, but especially elephants and leopards, for which it is one of the favorite regions. It is home to the longest snake on the island, the python, with some specimens whose size can range from 6 to 10 m in length, and crocodiles. Please note: there is no entrance on the road that crosses the park to the west and connects Puttalam to Mannar.
