Population approx. 9,400. The town extends over the valley of the same name, of which it is the economic and administrative center. On either side of the Ribnica valley rise two small mountain ranges: Mala Gora and Velika Gora. Agriculture and forestry have always been its main resources. The town is renowned for its production of wooden objects, which are exported to many countries. Known as suha roba, they exist in miniature form and are a great source of income for souvenir sellers. In the past, this activity was reserved for peasants, providing them with a little extra income. The town itself is of little interest.
