IGREJA NOSSA SENHORA DO ROSARIO E SÃO BENEDITO

Churches cathedrals basilicas and chapels

Located at the top of the Escadaria do Rosario, it is considered the most beautiful church on the island. The brotherhood of Nossa Senhora do Rosario e São Benedito dos homens pretos was founded in 1750 and it was slaves who built the church in just over 40 years between 1787 and 1830. It was built in the same period, the 1920s, in the middle of the industrial revolution. It symbolizes the development of the city in full expansion at that time. From this bridge you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of Floripa. At the foot of the bridge is the historical fort of Santana, built by the Portuguese in 1761.

The square is paved, pleasant and shady, at the entrance to the network of pedestrian streets that make up the historic centre of the city. There is the catedral metropolitana, built in the 1920s in place of the city's original chapel, all yellow and white

PUBLIC MARKET

Street square and neighborhood to visit

A must-see in Floripa, this pretty and colourful colonial building built in 1899 is centred on an open patio in the heart of the historic centre. It is an excellent spot to have lunch during a visit to the center of Floriianopolis. The pleasant terrace tables of the botecos, the colours and smells of fish, meat and spices from the market stalls are entertaining and show an image of an authentic Brazil, because it is here that artists and intellectuals meet to discuss over a drink. There's also a bit of craftsmanship
