At 74 km from Puno, about 1h10 of road. The beach of Mollendo is located not far from there for the courageous ones who do not fear the cold water! The "little Rome of the Americas", founded by the Dominicans in 1534, populated by 100% Aymara Indians, surrounded by seven hills (that goes without saying) and glued to the lake, fully justifies its name by the presence of four superb 16th century churches, one of which is in ruins, that of Santa Cruz de Jerusalén. You can also visit the two museum churches, Nuestro Señor de la Asunción (paintings from the same source as those in the Cathedral) and San Juan de Latrán with its huge paintings.
