21 km south of Nicosia and 7 km south of Deftera, this village of 360 inhabitants would be nothing remarkable if it were not located right next to an ancient site mentioned in Homer's Odyssey, that of Tamassos, surrounded by copper mines exploited for 3,000 years. The last mine, closed in the 1980s, is accessible by a not easy track, south-west of the village.Let's go. No direct bus service. First take a bus in Nicosia (Solomos Square) to Deftera or the village of Arediou. Two lines are possible: n° 100 (50 min journey) and n° 157 with a bus every 20-40 min (one hour journey). From Deftera and Arediou, the local bus line BA26 runs to Politiko (7 km).
