Renowned for its roses, beautiful views and clean air, this mountain village is the main crossroads of the Pitsilia region. This is where Cypriot and Nordic athletes come to train, at an altitude of 1,100 metres. In May, the Rose Festival is held, with local artisans selling products made from the emblematic Agros flower: fragrances, cosmetics, liqueur, rosewater, scented candles, etc. There are numerous shops, hotels and restaurants on site, as well as relatively recent churches. The most important is Panagia Eleousa (1909), built on the site of the former monastery of Megas Agros ("large fields"), which gave its name to the village. On the heights to the southeast, the Timios Prodromos church (1892) follows the "farmhouse" style of the medieval churches of the Troodos. A number of monuments also remind us that the Agrotes fought in Greece (War of Independence 1821-1829, resistance to the Nazis...) and, here, against the British in the 1950s. Finally, Agros is the starting point for three hiking trails to Lagoudera, Madari and Kato Mylos.
