On the shores of the dry Paralimni lake, Sotira is a pleasant village with pretty old chapels, three small museums (often closed) and a few good restaurants. The village owes its name to Christ the Saviour (Christos Sotiros). It is famous for its production of kolokasi, the taro root, a Cypriot culinary specialty celebrated here at the end of September.
