This charmless seaside resort is growing steadily along the west coast, between Cape Greko and the buffer zone. In the 2000s, along with the neighboring district of Pernera, just to the north, it became one of the favorite vacation destinations of Cypriots themselves. Tour operators and property developers have since spotted the potential: brand-new hotels with a host of facilities, vast resorts and luxury villas are now attracting mainly Russian and British tourists... Around the crystal-clear waters of Fig Tree Bay, one fine sandy beach follows another at the end of the small coves that outline the coastline. And they're all crowded in summer. The shoreline is also renowned for its diving sites, with a multitude of agencies offering to explore underwater caves or the site of the submerged statues of Green Bay. The hotels are almost all equipped with swimming pools and are quite expensive.
