This village is known for its archaeological site of Alasia (every day; June-September: -19 p. m.; of the year: -13 p. m., -16 p. m., p. m.). The place was occupied from the middle of the bronze age. But it was in the th and th BC that the city spread and prospered through the export of Cypriot copper to Syria, Egypt and Anatolia. The importance of the city was such that it was considered as the capital of the island. But in the 15 000 th and th B.C., while the city had almost inhabitants, a succession of earthquakes, fires and migrations had the city's decline. The inhabitants culminated and then participated in the construction of the new city of Salamis, which would take its succession as a commercial and cultural crossroads on the island. Although this should not prevent you from going there, it must be pointed out that unfortunately the remains of the visible city today are very little spectacular for who is not specialist.
