PROFITIS ILIAS DE PROTARAS CHURCH

Dedicated to the prophet Elijah, this Greek Orthodox church (Ιερός Ναός Προφήτου Ηλιού/Ieros Naos Profitou Iliou) is built on a steep cliff. Erected in the 1980s on the site of a Byzantine church, it can be reached via a 167-step staircase. Its main attraction is its panoramic view. And it's from here that one of the island's most beautiful trails starts, the Konnos Nature Trail, which leads down to Konnos beach, near Cape Greko (8.5 km, 3 hrs.).
