We arrive in the delta of the Niemen. This is the only village in Lithuania that is situated on an island at the mouth of the Niemen River and at the Russian border with an old-fashioned lookout. The former fishermen's village has eleven charming country cottages. It is the heart of the regional park. The access is often cut off in autumn and spring because of the flooding of the very marshy lands. The land is not suitable for cultivation. The village church dates from 1809. You can have a picnic here and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding nature. You can also visit the ethnographic museum of K. B. Baniai. The best smoked fish in the region is produced here.
