Situated on the shores of the lake of the same name - the largest in the national park at 1,205 ha - the village of Plateliai is one of the oldest and most storied in the region, known since the 15th century. A panoramic viewpoint can be found at the eastern end of the village. You'll have a beautiful view over Lake Plateliai and its islands to the forests of Plokštinė. The village features a magnificent wooden church dating from 1744, one of the oldest in Lithuania. To the south of the church, the Plateliai Manor Park preserves the original 19th-century houses, immersed among centuries-old ash, maple and lime trees.
