The two lakes of Ganzirri are located at the end of the cape, between the Italian coast and Messina. They are separated from the sea by a strip of dunes and fed by groundwater. The site is a marshy, wild and salty area of 6 hectares. At the end of the cape, the Torre Faro, the lighthouse, marks the extreme eastern tip of Sicily. It is a very pleasant walk and very popular with the inhabitants of Messina at the end of the day. Numerous restaurants serving marine specialities line the shores of the lake. Sales stands are also crowded. On 15 August, the local patron saint is celebrated, whose wooden statue is carried in procession around the lake.
