Center of swordfish fishing, this city clinging to the rock was almost entirely destroyed by the 1908 earthquake and has kept few old buildings. It has a large beach, bordered by steep coasts, hollowed out by caves and creeks often inaccessible on foot. In town, you can visit the church of the Confraternity of the Rosary, an eclectic building completed at the beginning of the 20th century, and the church of the Madonna del Carmine, which preserves an icon of the Vergine bruna (16th century) in Byzantine style, which is the object of great veneration. The city is full of beautiful villas, including that of the actor and director Fernando Di Leo.
