The dark silhouettes of the extinct volcanoes, Shihan and Qalaa, surround the ancient Philippolis, now inhabited mostly by Druze. At their summit, they built places of pilgrimage in memory of the great figures of the druzisme.Bosra owes his fortune to one of his children, Philippe the Arabic, who was Roman emperor from 244 to 249. From the former Greek or Nabataean town, the huge works commissioned by the emperor have reportedly removed all traces. As soon as he took power, Philippe the Arab launched a vast programme of constructions so that Philippolis could compete with neighbouring cities. He even bestowed the prestigious title of "Roman colony". Bosra is the only town of Du, with Overnight, built according to a checkerboard plane. Rich families established luxurious residences. Of these remains the whole town remains impregnated, and there is no dwelling that contains reuse materials.
