Maraval is only 5 km from Trinidad's bustling capital, and looks more like a middle-class residential suburb indolently tucked away in a lush valley, just 20 km from the beaches of Maracas Bay. A final and important advantage: Maraval is a very safe place, with none of the latent insecurity that can sometimes plague certain parts of the city. Arriving from Port of Spain, Maraval appears at first glance to be fairly concentrated on both sides of the Saddle Road, in an urban continuity that makes it difficult to distinguish the border separating Maraval from the capital. This boundary is located around the level of the Royal Palm Suites. A hundred meters from the Royal Palm, on the right-hand side of the Saddle Road, the Ellerslie Plazza shopping mall features several banks. Beyond Ellerslie Plazza, the Saddle Road continues to criss-cross Maraval for several kilometers, reaching a crow's-foot junction with Perseverance Road. This leads to the residential area of Moka, home to the 18-hole Saint Andrew golf course.
