Located about 20 kilometers from Portobelo, the small town of Nombre de Dios is a pleasant stop on the road to Palenque and Miramar. Tourism is not yet developed there and the best lodging possibilities are rather in the surroundings. About a thousand inhabitants live in this quiet town along a grey-black sand beach. Nombre de Dios is the ideal starting point for Playa Damas, named after the two beaches, one of white sand, the other of golden sand, which are reminiscent of a checkers game.
