A bolong that you cross on a small wooden bridge, a sandy beach bordered by the ocean, dunes, filaos and an island where birds nest. Just after, it's Gambia and if you take the wrong track to go to Kabadio beach, you'll find yourself on the "smugglers' path". 4x4 is compulsory to access this small paradise with about 1,500 inhabitants, with an authentic and warm welcome. Even before reaching this village, the landscape is already lush: huge cheese makers, mango, orange, lemon, coconut, palm and cashew trees. Birds of all colours twirling and singing. A great moment of emotion as we pass by the Joola shipwrecked people's cemetery. There are many villages all over Casamance where there are casualties, but Kabadio is particularly gripping because the village lost twenty-seven children from its football school and their coach in the disaster. On the walls are drawings and messages written by the other children of the village. It's impossible to stay in one piece. It is difficult to get to Kabadio-Niafourang without having your own vehicle. The track is good at the beginning, then it's only sand. By public transport, you can borrow a minibus from the garage in Kafountine. You will then find a motorcycle taxi or any other opportunity in Bandjikaky to finish the trip. Alternatively, you can opt for a walk along the beach from Abéné, in the direction of the beautiful Gambia.
