The "village of the two-storey huts", as it is known in the region, is an architectural nugget, with its Casamance-style "doorsteps" with earthen columns and ochre walls. The Place de Mlomp is majestic, with its multi-storey hut and its immense cheese makers with roots spread like tentacles around them. They are said to have been planted nearly four centuries ago by the first inhabitants of the village, who still use its summit as a landmark in the forest. The authentic atmosphere of Mlomp is appreciated as that of a village buried in the green. Special feature: the village has five multi-storey huts, built about 50 years ago. A fashion phenomenon initiated by a former Senegalese skirmisher who was inspired by what he had seen in Europe to build the first hut with one floor, mixing diola architecture and European-style colonnade, using local materials: wood, rônier, palm tree and earth. It was then copied by neighbours. It is also to feel up close the complex histories of small villages, the norm and the grip of tradition on customs. Mlomp with Oussouye and Elinkine form a triangle, each of which is about ten kilometres away. Bush taxis take you there from Ziguinchor, Oussouye, Elinkine for a few hundred FCFA. However, you will have to wait until the taxi is full before you can leave! If you want to optimize your time, take a "clando" taxi in Oussouye for half a day or a day.
