This pleasant town is located 8 kilometers south of Xalapa. Its name means "the mountain of snakes" in Náhuatl. The road to it is beautiful. The city is famous for its aromatic coffee that is grown in the area and its historical monuments. Not to be missed: the Municipal Palace, the parish of San Jeronimo, the sanctuary of Guadalupe, the haciendas of La Orduna and Juan Bautista de Tuzamapan, which are among the jewels of the colonial buildings, next to the houses with white walls and tiled roofs. The gastronomy is also worth discovering, such as the bread soup and the chicken and scampi stew (from rivers).
