Daniel et Denise, second address signed Joseph Viola, one of the Best Workers in France, have settled in Vieux Lyon for some years now. The tables are covered with the checkered red and white tablecloths and the atmosphere is friendly, according to the tradition. As for the cuisine, it is simply among the best in the city, even if the rates are a little high for a restaurant that does not rank among the most affordable. Joseph Viola perpetuates the tradition of the Lyon specialties, while giving to the "popular" dishes the beautiful "bourgeois" appearances. For starters, the unmissable pâté en croute with foie gras and sweetbread, a soft-boiled egg with its asparagus cream or a priest's omelette with crayfish tails made with fresh eggs from Lentilly. To be followed with a tripe stir-fried in Lyon way, the traditional cake of chicken liver, the andouillette with three firings and, specially recommended by the Futé, the whole pot-roasted calf's kidney in grandma's way. There are many “clichés” that you should enjoy, provided that you find the right address. The Lyon cliché par excellence is the bouchon in Vieux Lyon. And they are many… To avoid any mistake, you read Futé and you discover Chez Louise. The place is worth the detour. Now, you settle down on the most beautiful place in Vieux Lyon, one of the very few original, on the cobblestones of the historic place du Change where was formerly held all Lyon fairs, facing the magnificent Temple du Change and at the foot of one of the most beautiful residences of the city, the Thomassin house that dates back to the 13th century. Here, you are in the heart of a Lyon postcard. The rooms of Chez Louise come to complete this marvelous Lyon postcard with a typical and traditional decor of a bouchon lyonnais. Guignol welcomes us among the frescoes and the numerous objects that are almost quite impossible to discover. The à la carte menu offers us all the specialities that have made the reputation of Lyon traditional cuisine. Let's start with the Salade lyonnaise, the gratin with onions, sausage in brioche served hot with its steamed potatoes. Beginning with this incredible feeling of feeling unique by passing to the table and discovering that Odile, trained at the Hotel Ecole d'Arbois, took great care to fold each towel in a different way. There is a lot of attention to find throughout a meal that is rexhotel by the lovely Jura accent of a hostess always smiling. From the room where the throne on a wall is an imposing rider, the eyes naturally go to the open kitchen. In the Retrouvailles, there is only one service and one takes its time to enjoy menu dishes that change regularly, according to the market made by the chef, Saint-Antoine quay. This address is just amazing. The most off-beat that we know and yet part of the setting of this beautiful Saint-George district. It is not enough to just admire the shop window of this snack bar while trying to guess all the wonders hidden inside. No, you must push the Marinette's door and meet a charming man who will serve you, at any time, a "rouge limé" and a white coffee, a "Viandox" formula with its share of homemade quiche or a "Bonux" formula with its ham-cheese omelette, all with a dessert of your choice, a lemonade or a coffee for only about ten euros. (payments are not made in francs anymore, that's a pity). Every single detail is particularly taken care of to send us back to the 50s/60s. Absolute revival for parents and magical discovery for children who marvel at the hundreds, the thousands (?) of objects contained on the shelves and collected for 30 years by an enthusiast. You can treat yourself, share memories, you can meet each other… What could be better? Being able to buy objects! This is done with the new shop of Marinette next to the restaurant where you can have enamel signs of another era and boxes full of souvenirs.

La Cuisinerie: a concept well in tune with the times realized by lovers of the art of living well and eating well: Diane and Julien. In this Saint-Georges area so much more interesting than on the side of Saint-Jean, what a happiness to discover at lunchtime this Cuisinerie where we quickly feel "like home" in a decor between "indus", vintage, canteen spirit and old stones not yet seen in the Vieux Lyon. It is beautiful, warm, and there is even a terrace for fine days. The reception is also very cordial to make us share a seasonal and very tasty cuisine. At the table, whether you've come as a couple or with friends (big dinner parties are welcomed, just as families with children), to enjoy beautiful, well-composed salads or a revisited mozzarella tomato, a charolais beef tartare with a knife or exotic salmon tartare. In the evening, the aperitif is gladly extended around homemade tapas, French tapas: a trilogy of beef tartare, a range of charcuteries or IGP cheeses, fritters of zucchini flower saffron mayonnaise, a potatoes millefeuille with thyme and garlic… The {1}Smart{/1} advice: ask for a cocktail/tapas perfect combination, a real happiness. The Old Lyon is full of surprises to discover following the Smart. A novelty not to be missed in this superb rue des Trois-Maries, less traffic than Saint John Street, but more authentic. In the fantastic universe of Old Lyon, where you cross strange animals, here is a Chimera. A fabulous beast, the Chimera also designates an attractive project, but unworkable… Fortunately for the greedy, this Chimera saw the day (finally, especially at night, since the establishment is open every evening and only on weekends at noon) to offer us a quality kitchen that one could describe as warm to the image of the decor.
