The Soierie vivante association offers a journey back in time to the heart of the Croix-Rousse. By bringing back to life the last workshops of the "canuts", you can discover the art of weaving and the life of Lyonnais weavers in the 19th century. Demonstrations of the imposing Jacquard looms are fascinating. What's more, the association offers fun and educational workshops for children aged 4 to 12, who can learn about weaving and leave with their own creation. It's a fascinating immersion in the history of Lyonnais silk that should appeal to the whole family.

Dès le seuil franchi, on entre dans l'univers des canuts. Vieil escalier en pierre ďépoque et arrivé au premier étage, on sonne pour entrer dans l'appartement où trônent 3 magnifiques métiers à tisser. La visite guidée se fait en toute simplicité, comme à la maison. On découvre l'histoire de cette famille de passementiers et les outils qu'ils utilisaient dans la pratique de leur art mis en valeur par les membres passionnés de l'association qui ont su préserver un patrimoine incontournable de l'histoire lyonnaise. A visiter absolument.

Quel bonheur de pouvoir découvrir tout un savoir faire et le mode de vie des tisserands en visitant ces 2 ateliers particuliers devenus musées ! Commencer par celui de passementerie puis celui de tissage.
