The city's latest museum, a magical place to visit, an architectural jewel floating on the water, located in Lyon.

in 2025, 10 years on, the Musée des Confluences will be welcoming visitors with its strange shapes swaying between the Rhône and Saône rivers. A 21st-century museum that has succeeded in taking us on a journey through time and space to better understand mankind and the world in all their complexity. An incredible airy building at the tip of the Confluence, this museum houses original collections that can be discovered at your own pace by people of all ages, in a fascinating museography. All visitors will find their place in this immense transparent structure, where you are guided by adorable staff who direct you according to your expectations. There are the "strollers" who stroll and climb (it's free!) through the transparent building to the4th floor to admire the view over Lyon. Visitors" climb up to level 2 of the "Nuage", a stainless steel-clad metal structure, to discover the permanent collections covering over 3,000m2. These are divided into 4 distinct exhibitions: Origins, the stories of the world; Species, the web of life; Societies, the theater of mankind; Eternities, visions of the beyond - in 4 areas to be visited at your own pace, according to your own interests, to discover the 8,000 objects (out of the 3.5 million in the museum's reserves!) on display, with pieces that are unique in the world and prestigious collections, in rooms with different scenographies, taking advantage of the latest technologies (video, audio, touch screens) for a truly interactive museography. Impressive dinosaur skeletons or a disquieting Peruvian mummy, fragments of the Moon to touch and numerous terrestrial animals to look at: objects from the past and the future all telling a story, opening up avenues of reflection, providing solutions and appealing to all audiences. The Galerie Émile Guimet pays tribute to the donors of the Musée des Confluences. 250 objects testify to the richness and diversity of the donations made by enthusiasts. A contemporary museum, a marvellous museum that doesn't just exhibit, but awakens feelings, speaks to us about humanity and nature, opens up horizons and makes each of us an explorer in a world on the move. More than a museum, it's a place for cultural exchange and sharing. These exchanges continue through superb temporary exhibitions and numerous events organized around the museum's anniversary. Exciting guided tours and an extensive calendar of events. A museum for understanding and dreaming about the world.
