A few steps from Bellecour, in a quiet area between the urban shopping of the peninsula and the tourist visits of Old Lyon, in the immediate vicinity of the Saône and its boats, here is a welcome address: The Insert. A magnificent place, leaving beautiful old stones, in a contemporary spirit half nature - raw wood - "half-undue", to offer us a quality market of quality. We feel very quickly at Julien Chazot, the young chef, and his accomplice Xavier Guillien, who receive us in all friendliness in their establishment. Terrace if time allows for a "café chouquette" at noon or tapas in the evening (with cold meats, ham, freshly baked, Frais, bogeyman revisited). Superb room to enjoy a glass of wine perfectly selected by Xavier, old of Harmony des Vins. In kitchen, Julien "transforms fresh products" according to his own words. A beautiful house created by two Lyon, Franck Hamouilli and Jean-David Perthuis (who also made the success of nearby Bar Saint-Antoine), Le does not lack charm or flavour. Seasonal cooking with good prepared products, all served on beautiful plates. Brasserie in the air of time, neither too busy nor too much "Lyon". Since the time the Smart has been advocating the return to the good recipes of yesteryear, when lyon mothers made daily, with fresh products, tasty dishes, it is happy to welcome the opening of this bistro, coffee-counter, where slate tells us that every day matches its dish. To start the week, it's poultry on Mondays. On Tuesday, it is season stew and on Wednesday a traditional lamb mouse. On Thursday, small stuffed. Friday, full sun quenelles and Saturday, old Calf blanquette. Every day, a fish cooker and sometimes frogs make the party on our plates. A nice terrace on a quiet street, the former decor where the objects come together, the decoration is as successful as the kitchen. In an establishment held by Cécile and Olivier Remontet, Smart enjoyed the smiling reception and the melting buds of pleasure, generously (the big appetites will be happy) composed of carefully dishes ingredients. Another address that puts us water in the mouth just to think about it. In the face of sanitized concepts, Smart lifts its hat for this Bistrot.

Read moreLocated between the quays of the Rhône and the parking of the Cordeliers (very convenient), the rue Claudia has not always had a good reputation greedy. But things have changed (as Céline Dion would say) with the opening of Bouchon des Cordeliers last year. An umpteenth "bouchon"… Not quite, since the chef is not a stranger of the lyonnais gourmands. Cédric Garin, has already been in the kitchen of Victoria Hall for years, is proud to take on his lyon origins by delivering his version of the contemporary bouchon. Pleasant terrace in a street finally not very busy, red walls and exposed stones, well-laid red and white checkered tablecloths and towels, beautiful tableware... Le Bouchon des Cordeliers plays the contemporary elegance card while perpetuating the best of Lyon culinary tradition. The chef works with local products and, of course, everything is homemade, except the charcuterie coming from the excellent Maison Sibilia at the Halles Paul Bocuse and the cheeses from Mons, always at Halles de Lyon. On the menu, local must-eats: poultry liver cake, sauce financière, or salad Lyonnaise (pork belly, soft-boiled egg, country bread croutons), to continue with a tablier de sapeur, tartare sauce, paillasson lyonnais, an authentic andouillette drawn with string from the Bobosse house, mustard sauce or a Lyon pike quenelle, Nantua sauce. Homemade cervelle de canut and delicious praline tart. To try something new, an excellent gravelax salmon, chive cream, a succulent farm pork chop served with a Provençal tian or a roasted Arctic char fillet, to end on a sweet note with a lemon pie, Italian meringue. A beautiful bouchon.
