This township of 800 inhabitants spreads out in a green valley of meadows and hedgerows watered by the Vègre river which rises at the foot of the wooded hills of the Coëvrons. Its first three tributaries - Le Fourmont, les Écoulées and l'Essart - feed it with clear water that trout love. It is therefore a popular spot for fishermen. Because of its geography and geology, Rouessé-Vassé was a country of quarrymen (Kabylie), sandstone cutters (cobblestones of Vieux-Mans), weavers (hemp and flax), lime-furnace workers (blast furnace of La Régale), carpenters, charcoal burners and, of course, breeders.
