CURIEUX COFFEE SHOP

Coffee shop and tea room

Just a stone's throw from the bustling Place du Commerce, you suddenly feel a little hungry? The solution: the Curieux Coffee Shop. In this haven of creativity and quality, Auntie Claire runs this friendly little place with the help of Angèle. At the New Café Curieux, you'll find quality homemade products: savory cakes, sweet cakes and delicious desserts (decadent cookies, hazelnut brownies!), pastries, the famous "ptits curieux". The quality is well and truly there with all these greedy vegan and home-made creations. We accompany these good pastries with a gourmet coffee, topped with a spiral of whipped cream, a drizzle of hot chocolate and caramelized hazelnut chips or a mocha that combines the bitterness of coffee and the roundness of chocolate. The hot beverage menu is original and creative: we have the "basics" that cannot be ignored, with the pure espresso, the homemade chai latte or the vanilla or hazelnut caramel latte, the hot chocolate, the viennois... but also the quality teas, the cold drinks, milkshakes and smoothies... The "curious" drinks menu is made up of specialities such as Thor's coat, Dirty chai, Butterfly latte, London's fog, we'll let you discover them! Here you will certainly find your happiness.

CHOC-HOLA

Coffee shop and tea room

Marion and Ivan have opened this pretty little store designed for cocoa lovers. Imagine: cocoa beans imported from a cooperative in the province of Chiapas in Mexico (without intermediaries, in the respect of fair trade) crushed and roasted before your eyes before forming bars, coulis, ice creams, hot and cold drinks... Without preservatives or cocoa butter... Drinks as well as bars can be flavored with many flavors: chili, cinnamon, ginger, crushed hazelnuts, gingerbread mix, coconut, sesame, fleur de sel, almonds, raisins, cranberries, edible flower petals... Among our favorites: chocolate making. You can make your own chocolate bar from the cocoa bean during a 2-hour workshop or simply discover the origins of cocoa (1-hour workshop)!

MAISON GRIMAUD

Enter this contemporary house which gives back its letters of nobility to the cabbage in multiple forms: salted, sweet or garnished. Sébastien Grimaud, a talented pastry chef, introduces us to this cult pastry, alongside other creations based on choux pastry. On the menu: Tahitian vanilla chou, salted butter caramel, raspberry, mont-blanc, coconut rocher, coffee tiramisu, lemon meringue... Paris-brest, Fleur de Sel, saint-honoré, accompanied by hot or cold drinks. For lunch, try the revisited gougères: vegetarian, chicken with caramel or Coppa with salads or seasonal soup/gaspacho. Sublime creations!

DEBOTTÉ CRÉBİLLON

Coffee shop and tea room
2/5
1 review

This well known Nantais shop is a reference in the fields of pastry, ice cream, chocolate, roasting and also as a tea room. You can meet there for a good cup of coffee or tea, with delicious pastries. The success is now so well established that there are several Debotté shops in Nantes (tea room activity in the ones on rue Crébillon and rue de Budapest). You can find there high quality products; whether it is excellent chocolate rochers or macaroons that are no less, frangipani from another world, the Nantes cake where rum is not overused. In short, to try to list all the succulent products offered by this brand would be a challenge. The only thing that remains is that everyone will find something to their taste. Because here, whether it is pastries or sweets (caramel, négryllettes, berlingots...), everything is made with fine butter. It should be pointed out that anyone who would like to order a pièce montée would be at the right address. To conclude, let's not forget to mention that the exterior and interior of the shops are very well looked after and that the welcome is perfect. A house in which tradition is preserved with a quality artisanal production from father to son. Please note: at lunchtime, home-made hot dishes are served on rue Crébillon and rue de Budapest.

Bahia is new. It's a lovely Brazilian stopover in Nantes! In this warm and inviting coffee shop, tea room and lunchtime restaurant, you can enjoy coxinhas, Brazilian-style doughnuts, Portuguese-style cod acras or sweet and savoury tapiocas. Assortments to share? Julia, the manager and cook, has family in Bahia (northern Brazil). The drinks take us on a journey, like the 100% natural coconut water, Bahia or Bahiadeiro coffee, with the unmissable homemade brigadeiros, Valrhona cocoa chocolate truffles. Bahia also offers culinary workshops: chocolate-making, spreads and pastéis de nata! What's more, you can brunch here!

DELICATESSAINE PATISSIER

Coffee shop and tea room

On the island of Nantes, a stone's throw from the Elephant, an exceptional pastry shop has opened where Sabrina, a naturopath by training, and her husband Grégory Lejeune, a pastry chef, work. They both decided to combine their respective passions around this daring and very successful project. This establishment also gives pride of place to creative, healthy and natural pastries. This alternative pastry shop favours the senses: sight, because "you eat first with your eyes", as Sabrina says, and taste, with flavours such as the pears poached in hibiscus juice in the Déli'biscus (sweet pastry, organic vanilla diplomat), the circle of spirulina on the organic vanilla and white chocolate cabbage. The creations, as pretty as they are tasty, are less sweet because they are made exclusively with natural sugars (for example coconut blossom sugar) with a low glycemic index (ideal for diabetics and gourmets who have to be careful), such as the matcha green tea macaroons, with no additives or artificial colourings, with certified organic French flours, as well as non-hybridized and gluten-free flours. The approach is delicate and healthy, ethical and responsible because it favours local and seasonal products. Délicatessaine is also a tea room where you can sit and drink tea or coffee. And you can also enjoy home-made chocolate bars. And as soon as possible, educational workshops will be offered to learn how to bake lighter. To be made: healthy and tasty snacks for children, or pastries for people suffering from allergens. We can't wait!

CANYON CAFÉ FLEURS

Coffee shop and tea room

Canyon is the first flower café in Nantes. Created by Julia and Simon to delight the senses with dishes, pastries and flowers, the place offers a restaurant with an American touch, revisited with local and seasonal products. You can enjoy a grilled cheese, the club of the week, or a salad, then a homemade granola with vegetable coconut yogurt, or even a trio of sweet or savory pancakes. To be enjoyed with a colored milk like the amazing Raw cacao (fresh raw cacao paste), or a black latte with black sesame and charcoal. Canyon is also the place to offer you a country bouquet composed of pretty seasonal flowers. A pleasant and atypical place!

SUGAR BLUE CAFÉ

Coffee shop and tea room

Want to find the cosy atmosphere of an Anglo-Saxon coffee shop? It's at the Sugar Blue Café that you should come and recharge your batteries for a short or long gourmet break, or continue working thanks to the free wifi. Here the motto is: "All you need is good coffee & fresh food"! The coffee is freshly roasted by a Best Breton Roaster, and the choice is great: from espresso to filter coffee, from Macchiato to hot chocolate (white, milk, black), with a nice selection of organic teas. For the little treats that accompany it, the products are of quality and local: dairy products from Beillevaire, breads from a traditional bakery, ice creams made with farm milk, salted local fruits and vegetables. But also fresh fruit juice and smoothie of the week! And for those with a sweet tooth: brownies, cakes, muffins, cookies, cheesecakes, carrot cake, seasonal smoothies... don't hesitate to be tempted. Delicious brunches on the first Sunday of the month!

LA PASSAGÈRE

Coffee shop and tea room

Do you like cosy, hushed and refined tea rooms? You will love La Passagère. Ideally located in the Passage Pommeraye, on the middle floor, it is a place like we like them: the atmosphere is relaxed and delicate. La Passagère is the result of the work of a couple of restaurateurs well known to Nantes gastronomes: Isabelle and Jean-Charles Baron-Lefebvre. They are already at the head of the Baron-Lefebvre house in the Cité des Congrès, the Pellières near the Zenith and the caterer on rue Cassini. All in all, four excellent and unmissable restaurants in the City of Dukes. At La Passagère, you can come and enjoy a hot chocolate or one of the many teas on the menu: smoked black tea, rooibos, red-black tea, white or green tea, whether it's called Midnight Demon, Blue Grass, Casanova or Dragon Well, you'll find the one that suits your palate. What you should not miss are the pastries. You will find them presented in a window like magnificent jewels among which you will have to choose: an excellent tiramisu tart, a no less famous Nantais cake, the delicious small pecan and cranberry cakes or why not the Orélys tart (sweetened shortcrust pastry and a praline base and an Orélys ganache)... The place can be privatized. A bubble of delicacy within an exceptional architecture.

ATOMIC'S CAFÉ

Coffee shop and tea room

Florian, Edouard and Julien welcome us in their secret base. Atomic's is a bar where you can come to enjoy a beer or a cocktail in the evening, or a tea during the day, in one of the three rooms of the place, whose decoration is largely inspired by the universe of Jules Verne who would have been born nearby. Let's talk about the decor! Both industrial and dreamlike, atypical and artistic, with a suspended iron table, lights that make us travel or urinals for the least original. And Atomic's is also a library with nearly 2,000 comics, which you can read and reread while sitting comfortably in one of the leather club chairs in the back room

ESTHÈTE PÂTISSIER

Coffee shop and tea room

This fine pastry shop lives up to its name. Julien Merceron, the pastry chef from the Ritz, and Gérard Porte, the artisan florist, cultivate the art of beauty. Here everything awakens your senses: the beautiful cakes titillate the eye, tickle the nostrils and delight the taste buds. We discover with envy the novelties of the year like the Bergamo, a brioche soaked in bergamot and Italicus. In the tea room, soft music caresses your ears and the velvet of the garnet and duck blue sofas, mixed with the natural wood of the tables, invites you to relax. To be savored!

CLAPTON CAFÉ ET ATELIERS

Coffee shop and tea room

Inspired by her years spent in London, Claire wanted to create a friendly, lively space in the Delorme district, where the motto "Manger, Siroter, Créer" is possible at any time of day. In addition to the restaurant, the Clapton Café is a coffee shop where you can take part in one of the workshops the space organizes on Saturdays: embroidery, sewing, linocut... In a cosy, friendly atmosphere, you can enjoy this interlude, accompanied by a drink and/or a sweet treat from the house. For the more studious, it's possible to sit down and work in the café. Any excuse is good enough to push open the door of the Clapton!

HANDY CAFE BRUNCH

Coffee shop and tea room

Located next to the Musée Dobrée and just 2 steps from Place Graslin, Handy (Have A Nice Day) is a lively place run by Guillaume, who opened this multi-faceted restaurant. From morning breakfasts to hearty lunches, brunch specialties and a gourmet tea room, there's no shortage of ways to indulge! One of the restaurant's special features is that (hearty) brunches can be enjoyed throughout the week, as well as at weekends. With "classic" formulas like the "Handy" formula, with a choice of a hot or cold drink and a choice of cooked eggs: scrambled, poached, fried or the chef's famous eggs Benedict, but also smoked bacon, sausages and vegetables and potatoes of the moment. You can also indulge in an eggs-only option, served with toast and salad. Pancake lovers also come to try the inevitable Sweet Stack: 3 pancakes with whipped cream and maple syrup, or the Savoury Stack with crispy bacon, 2 fried eggs on pancakes. On weekday lunchtimes, a "lunch with love" menu is added, with a choice of 1 starter, 3 main courses including the famous Handy P burger, and 2 desserts, depending on the chef's inspiration: beautiful presentation, fresh produce, inventiveness: everything you need for a Nice Day! The lunch menu changes every 2 weeks, and there's always a vegan dish! It's worth noting that at Handy's you can have brunch even "late" (10am-4pm). Last but not least, you'll love the sweet treats on offer: Guillaume's French toast, homemade pastries and Greek yoghurt with nuts, honey or homemade granola! A great address!
