Located 12 km south of Châteaubriant, Moisdon-la-Rivière is the former fief of the lords of Moisdon or Maisdon, from the lords of Rougé in the Middle Ages. Two sites in the commune are listed as Historic Monuments: the Saint-Jouin Church, founded and built in the 10th and 11th centuries and enlarged in the 19th century, which is the only fortified Romanesque church in the department, and the Forge-Neuve site, which houses the old forges, with the so-called new halls, the furnace and the two Bourbiers bridges, whose construction dates back to the 17th century. You will see the houses of the forge masters, one of which includes a chapel, and several workers' houses.
