3 km from La Chevrolière, Passay is a typical village of professional fishermen authorized to exploit the riches of Grand-Place Lake. Referred to as Pacium since the year 857, the village has lived at the pace of fishing since time immemorial, with its small white and white houses, narrow alleys and its Fisherman's house, evoking a history intimately linked to the presence of the lake. Only 7 out of 120 fishermen in 1920 still practice this activity today. The latter are grouped within the fishing company of Lake Grand Place and have entered into a lease with the state, owner of the nature reserve. The name of the Chevrolière could be a deformation of the name of the Charollière and the word "Capriolaria", name of a village with goat farms. According to a map of Brittany, from the end of the seventeenth century, (preserved at the Museum of Breton Art of Nantes Castle), La Charollière was located at the present geographic location of the Chevrolière and was at the crossroads of two paths. A "bull" was a chariot passage or a path in the language of the Country of Retz. It is likely that it is this crossing of two "tiles" that gave this name to the Charollière. Many walks and walks are possible around the beautiful Lake Grand-Place.
