Near Tournay, but in a preserved and hilly countryside, this commune of 150 inhabitants is home to a honey producer and a producer of black pigs from Bigorre. Two reasons to go there. You can also see the Saint-Germain-d'Auxerre church in the centre of the town. This saint is the most famous of the German saints. Born around 380 into a family of lords from Auxerre, he studied in Rome, became a renowned lawyer and then a civil servant of the Roman Empire on his lands. This aristocrat and hunter was converted by the Amâtre, bishop of Auxerre, to whom he succeeded in 418. From then on he evangelized Auxerrois and worked for peace in his province. He died in 448. The year before a miracle would have happened during his visit to Travia: his stick planted in the ground turns into a large green tree, as in the Bible for Aaron's stick. A royal abbey was built on the site. The village takes the name of Saint-Germain, now Saint-Germain-sur-Meuse.
